American Democracy Project - a multi-campus initiative that seeks to create an intellectual and experiential understanding of civic engagement for undergraduates enrolled at institutions that are members of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). The goal of the project is to produce graduates who understand and are committed to engaging in meaningful actions as citizens in a democracy.
Campus Compact - Founded in 1985, Campus Compact is "a national coalition of more than 1,100 college and university presidents representing some 6 million students dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement, and service-learning in higher education." Center for Civic Renewal at Sweet Briar College - "cultivates civically engaged graduates of Sweet Briar through programmatic, academic, and co-curricular initiatives inlcuding the College's Law and Society Program which provides the curricular foundation for the Center.
CIRCLE (The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement) - "promotes research on the civic and political engagement of Americans between the ages of 15 and 25." Founded in 2001 at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy.
The Institute for Civic Leadership at Mills College - an intensive one-semester program in civic leadership for 15 women from colleges across the country.
University of Minnesota, Minneapolis Center for Democracy and Citizenship, - Focus on the role of public work by citizens as a strategy for increasing civic muscle and creating a vibrant commonwealth-- a society that balances economic prosperity with many other forms of wealth, both public and private. University of Missouri-St. Louis Citizenship Education Clearing House - a nonprofit organization that engages young people in the study and practice of politics and government to prepare them for a lifetime of responsible citizenship.
The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars - internships and academic seminars in Washington, DC for college students from across the country and around the world.
Tufts University - College of Citizenship and Public Service - "preparing students to become engaged public citizens and community leaders who will help build a more equitable world."
Harvard University - The Saguaro Seminar: Civic Engagement in America - Professor Robert D. Putnam at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University focuses on how we can build bonds of civic trust among Americans and their communities.
