Public-private partnerships |
Here are examples of private, nonprofit fundraising organizations (foundations, friends groups, associations) whose mission is to support a public institution like a school, park, public radio station, or library.
National School Foundation Association - supporting school foundations nationally
National Park Foundation - "strengthens the connection between the American people and their National Parks by raising private funds, making strategic grants, creating innovative partnerships and increasing public awareness."
Friends of Public Radio Arizona - through partnerships with community colleges, works to "assure vitality and excellence of community's public radio and broaden its support."
California Consortium of Education Foundations - "dedicated to strengthening public education by facilitating the creation, growth, and effectiveness of local education foundations and by advocating for public education."
Yellowstone Park Foundation - "works in cooperation with the National Park Service to fund projects and programs that protect, preserve, and enhance the natural and cultural resources and the visitor experience of Yellowstone National Park."
Grand Canyon National Park Foundation - the official fundraising partner and friends group for Grand Canyon National Park "seeks to broaden and diversify the park's funding base through private donations, corporate contributions, and citizen involvement. Although federal funding provides baseline support for the park, the funding is insufficient for programs and projects that bring opportunities and positive change for Grand Canyon and its visitors."
